When it comes to your website, extra attention should be paid to every minute detail to make sure it performs optimally to serve its purpose. Here are seven important rules of thumb to observe to make sure your website performs well.
1) Do not use splash pages
Splash pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website. They normally have a very beautiful image with words like "welcome" or "click here to enter". In fact, they are just that -- pretty vases with no real purpose. Do not let your visitors have a reason to click on the "back" button! Give them the value of your site up front without the splash page.
2) Do not use excessive banner advertisements
Even the least net savvy people have trained themselves to ignore banner advertisements so you will be wasting valuable website real estate. Instead, provide more valueable content and weave relevant affiliate links into your content, and let your visitors feel that they want to buy instead of being pushed to buy.
3) Have a simple and clear navigation
You have to provide a simple and very straightforward navigation menu so that even a young child will know how to use it. Stay away from complicated Flash based menus or multi-tiered dropdown menus. If your visitors don't know how to navigate, they will leave your site.
4) Have a clear indication of where the user is
When visitors are deeply engrossed in browsing your site, you will want to make sure they know which part of the site they are in at that moment. That way, they will be able to browse relevant information or navigate to any section of the site easily. Don't confuse your visitors because confusion means "abandon ship"!
5) Avoid using audio on your site
If your visitor is going to stay a long time at your site, reading your content, you will want to make sure they're not annoyed by some audio looping on and on on your website. If you insist on adding audio, make sure they have some control over it -- volume or muting controls would work fine.
3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Important For Content Sites
March 24, 2009
To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works.
The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program. The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.
The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.
The first reason why Adsense is essential for content sites is because it already has come a long way in understanding the needs of publishers and webmasters. Together with its continuous progression is the appearance of more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the chance to choose from many different types of text ad formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout.
The different formatting enables the site owners the possibility of more click through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on. It can also appeal to the people visiting thus make them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. This way the people behind the Adsense will get their content read and making profit in the process.
The second reason is the ability of the Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are progressing but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels. The recent improvements in the search engines gives webmasters the capability to monitor how their ads are performing using customizable reports that has the capacity to detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Webmasters and publishers can now track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily spotted.
With the real-time reporting at hand, the effectiveness of the changes made will be assessed quickly. There would be time to sort out the contents that people are making the most clicks on. The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, which will provide them some accurate insight on which pages, ads and domains are performing best.
The last and final reason is that the advertisers have realized the benefits associated having their ads served on targeted websites. Thus increasing the possibility that a prospective web surfer will have an interest in their product and services. All because of the content and its constant maintenance. As opposed to those who are no using Adsense in their sites, they are given the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites.
Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more target the search engines’ ads will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them rather than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is working its best.
There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from advertisements. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they can make Adsense be that generator. In those days, the content were the most important factors that is taken quite seriously. It still is. With the allure of money, of course.

Website in Progress
March 16, 2009
I've finally finished the Ebook for business. It's a salad recipe books and I wish the Malaysians like it. I don't know how to make salad, so I gathered those information from the net and hope it helps.
The website is in progress. The competition for the keywords "Kitchen Appliances" doesn't seem many, it is only around 60000+, so let's see if I can do it like what I've promised.
There is another Learning Preview from my NLP guru this Saturday, I enjoy working with him and there is always someone you can learn from :)

Apply TuneMoney? Don't Do it Until You Read This...
March 11, 2009
You may find a topic in this blog about TuneMoney written couple of weeks ago. I've written some benefits of using TuneMoney but sorry mate, I just have to take back those words from now on.
So the story begins...
Story 1)
I applied my TuneCard on 22 January, the card supposed to be ready for collection at my PosOffice branch in a week time, but I understood that it was CNY period so I expected it would take longer than a week. Time passed and after 3 weeks of no any respond, I started to feel worry if the card has lost during delivery.
Few days later I received a SMS from Tunemoney that collection at PosOffice was no longer available. They claimt that they are adding a value service to deliver the card to doorstep. Well, I wondered "Where the hell is my card now? In PosOffice or where?".
I've sent an email to their customer service department and no response was given. I called them twice and the first staff told me that my card has been sent and it took several more days to receive. Wait...and wait....nothing received...Then I called the second time and the staff told me my card was about to be sent in a week time...WTF? Were they serious in tracking customer's card status? I don't know.
Ok eventually it took me about a month to receive...
Story 2)
After activation, I reloaded money via Maybank2u to my TuneMoney account (Ok since they have terminated their business relationship with PosOffice, you can no longer reload your money in PosOffice). In general your account would be reloaded once the transfer go through. However my account didn't show any sign of reloaded although my Maybank account has deducted the money.
3 days later I reported this to them via email, few days of waiting only I realised "OMG I shouldn't use an email since they would not reply the email". I called them on Friday and the staff said it couldn't be solved until Monday since they do not operate on weekend. I gave them another call on Monday and the same staff told me it couldn't be solved on the same day since it was public holiday. Ok I could understand the situation so I have determined to be patient, and appreciated the staff called Alvin to be helpful for my trouble. He said they would call me once the matter is solved.
No call on Tuesday, and until today, I couldn't wait anymore and gave them another call. The staff told me the case has been passed to finance department. To make him understand the situation, I spent my time and effort telling him the whole matter and informed him to take this as an urgent matter. After a few hours he called me and said "We cannot solve this problem. This is not the TuneMoney error but some error has occured in your Maybank account. You have to take your payment slip and go to the Maybank counter to get the refund."
End of stories...
To be honest I was ok with my misfortune, the lesson is nothing to do with your luck, but the shocking point is their willingness to help the customers getting out of troubles, and also the speed of getting things done.
I've heard a lot of experienced card users saying the bad things about TuneMoney and finally I understood what they say so...

Next SEO Destination
March 8, 2009
After receiving a success of getting ranked No 1 at Google search for two very general keywords, my next SEO target is helping my home business to get ranked No 1 for keyword "Kitchen Appliances" and "Bathroom Accessories" for Google search Malaysia.
The current website is professionally built but it does not comply much with SEO. So to get the job done, first of all I need to analyse who is currently ranked No 1 in the search engine, then analyse the reasons of it and in the end starting on onpage optimization follow by offpage optimization.
Another project of mine is being a publisher in Clickbank, also in 2009. I have a great content ( My NLP guru would contribute on this) and what I need now is someone who can do more on the technical part. Requirement for this person would be:
1) Who can create an attractive and sales conversion sales letter.
2) Who can understand chinese and translate into "American English".
3) Honest, Passionate, Money minded, Able to take responsibility and lastly,
4) Who has experience in Affiliate Marketing.
If you think you are the person, you can send me an email and tell me more about yourself.

I Vote For Clare
March 5, 2009
The government of Queensland is giving away this "Best Job in the World" to one person on earth. Queensland Premier Paul Lucas, who confirms that Queensland is seeking applicants who want to be "paid to explore the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, swim, snorkel and generally live the Queensland lifestyle." The best job in the world pays 150,000 Australian dollars (US$103,000) for six months of this demanding labor.
Applicants need to submit a 60 seconds self introduction. Around 35,000 applications received 50 people have been short-listed, one of them is Jackie from Malaysia.
150,000 AUD for this type of media exposure? It's way to cheap and Australian government has done a fucking smart job for this. Anyway have you vote yet? I am giving my vote for Clare Wang from Taiwan.
I think the top 50 are great but Clare deserves some credits for having such a cute shirt ;)
Oh ya, you can view the 50 candidates here and submit your vote too.
I hope Malaysia government would give away a 'Best Job in Malaysia' for Malaysians too ;)

So Many Affiliate Programs! Which One Do I Choose?
March 4, 2009
Ask questions first before you join an affiliate program. Do a little research about the choices of program that you intend to join into. Get some answers because they will be the deciding point of what you will be achieving later on.
Will it cost you anything to join? Most affiliate programs being offered today are absolutely free of charge. So why settle for those that charge you some dollars before joining.
When do they issue the commission checks? Every program is different. Some issue their checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate programs are setting a minimum earned commission amount that an affiliate must meet or exceed in order for their checks to be issued.
What is the hit per sale ratio? This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. This factor is extremely important because this will tell you how much traffic you must generate before you can earn a commission from the sale.
How are referrals from an affiliate’s site tracked and for how long do they remain in the system? You need to be confident on the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can credit for a sale. The period of time that those people stay in the system is also important. This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. Know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.
What are the kinds of affiliate stats available? Your choice of affiliate program should be capable of offering detailed stats. They should be available online anytime you decide to check them out. Constantly checking your individual stats is important to know how many impressions, hits and sales are already generated from your site. Impressions are the number of times the banner or text link was viewed by a visitor of your site. A hit is the one clicking on the banner or text links.
Does the affiliate program also pay for the hits and impressions besides the commissions on sales? It is important that impressions and hits are also paid, as this will add to the earnings you get from the sales commission. This is especially important if the program you are in offers low sales to be able to hit ratio.
Who is the online retailer? Find out whom you are doing business with to know if it is really a solid company. Know the products they are selling and the average amount they are achieving. The more you know about the retailer offering you the affiliate program, the easier it will be for you to know if that program is really for you and your site.
Is the affiliate a one tier or two tier program? A single tier program pays you only for the business you yourself have generated. A two tier program pays you for the business, plus it also pays you a commission on the on the sales generated by any affiliate you sponsor in your program. Some two-tier programs are even paying small fees on each new affiliate you sponsor. More like a recruitment fee.
Lastly, what is the amount of commission paid? 5% - 20% is the commission paid by most programs. .01% - .05% is the amount paid for each hit. If you find a program that also pays for impressions, the amount paid is not much at all. As you can see from the figures, you will now understand why the average sales amount and hit to sale ratio is important.
These are just some of the questions that needed answering first before you enter into an affiliate program. You should be familiar with the many important aspects that your chosen program should have before incorporating them into your website. Try to ask your affiliate program choices these questions. These can help you select the right program for you site from among the many available.

Avoid The 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes
March 1, 2009
Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some money online. This program gives everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet. Since these affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, implement and pays a commission on a regular basis, more an more people are now willing in this business.
However, like all businesses, there are lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. Committing some of the most common mistakes will cost the marketers a large portion taken from the profit they are making everyday. That is why it is better to avoid them than be regretful in the end.
Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate.
Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a bandwagon product. This is the kind of products that the program thinks is “hot”. They choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. This is not a very wise move obviously.
Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try top choose a product in which you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to succeed, you should take some time to plan and figure out your actions.
Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.
Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.
Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiples of affiliate programs to try and maximize the earnings you will be getting. Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being part of many affiliate programs.
True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income. However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them.
The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not realized and the income generated will not exactly be as huge as you were thinking initially it would. The best way to get excellent result is by joining just one program that pays a 40% commission at least. Then give it your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically. As soon as you see that it is already making a reasonable profit, then maybe you can now join another affiliate program.
The technique is to do it slowly but surely. There is really no need to rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way things are going, the future is looking real bright and it seems affiliate marketing will be staying for a long time too.
Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.
As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to relay to the customers that certain product and service. It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a desire in your customers to avail any of what you are offering.
Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Your customers will then feel the sincerity and truthfulness in you and this will trigger them to try them out for themselves.
Many affiliate marketers makes these mistakes and are paying dearly for their actions. To not fall into the same situation they have been in, try to do everything to avoid making the same mistakes.
Time is the key. Take the time to analyze your marketing strategy and check if youa re in the right track. If done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing program and earn higher profits.
